Read the direction labels

Supported: the app has a stated opening or export path. Inspect the content you need to edit or return.
Partial: some content is converted or preserved, or only the stated file type or encoding is supported. Check the document type, camera variant or required format support beside the result before choosing a delivery format.
Merged image only: you get the combined picture. Choose a layered editing route when you need the original layers.
Planned: that opening or export route is still being developed. Use the named exchange format for the current handoff.
Not supported: use the stated migration route or keep the original application for that file.
Check the app’s file options: choose an explicitly supported direction when you need to deliver a file in an agreed format.

Opening and export are separate choices. An app that opens a file may return your work through another format. Check both directions when someone expects an editable project back.

Layers, formulas and document types

PhotoCraft opens and saves PSD and PSB. VectorCraft and LightCraft open a PSD’s merged image, so choose PhotoCraft when your task depends on editable Photoshop layers. DesignCraft places the merged picture into a layout.

VectorCraft also exports PSD; LightCraft’s PSD result is an opening route. Saving in PhotoCraft rewrites the image resources, layer records and merged picture while carrying over information it cannot edit. Inspect the saved layers, text and fonts, and appearance in Photoshop before returning a project.

Compare the PSD choices.

For Illustrator files, VectorCraft needs a PDF-compatible AI document. Its return file carries the PDF-compatible drawing; Illustrator’s private editing data is not written back.

For Figma files, FigCraft offers best-effort opening and experimental FIG export. Inspect effects, images, prototypes and fonts in the receiving application.

A spreadsheet can show the saved numbers while losing the formulas you need to recalculate. GridCraft’s XLSB and ODS imports use saved worksheet values. Choose an XLSX handoff and check its formulas when the workbook must remain editable.

A Lottie animation and a Figma design export can share a suffix; timeline exchange and layout content can also share one. Results are grouped by named use. Read all groups or select the use you need, then compare the apps within that group.

For camera RAW files, check the camera and encoding variant. A displayed preview may be the embedded image, so inspect the available RAW adjustments before committing to the edit.

PhotoCraft and VectorCraft cannot export Affinity documents, and PhotoCraft cannot export HEIC. If the recipient requires the original format, keep its original application for the handoff; otherwise agree on an output the chosen Craft app can write. PdfCraft can convert PDF pages to PowerPoint slides with partial layout support; check the slide size and overflowing text in PowerPoint.

Different extensions and alternate spellings

PSD and PSB are different Photoshop file types, and each has its own result. IDML is an InDesign exchange format; INDD is the project file. DesignCraft’s INDD opening is planned, so obtain an IDML copy and inspect its layout before moving the publication.

DesignCraft opens and saves .designcraft projects; it cannot export INDD. Its Word import places text into a layout, while PDF-compatible Illustrator artwork and PDF pages are placed without editable source vectors. Choose those uses to assemble a publication, and use a document editor or illustrator when you need to edit the original project.

For EPUB, choose reflowable output when readers need text to adapt to their screen. DesignCraft’s fixed-layout output uses page images with text retained for search, rather than live ebook text. For print PDF, choose the required PDF standard and page settings.

JPG and JPEG refer to the same image format. TIF and TIFF are alternate filename endings for TIFF. The matrix brings those spellings together while keeping each app’s layered or flat-image conditions beside its result.

Check the version for CAD drawings

CADCraft 0.6.2 (released 12 Oct 2026) adds chosen DXF/DWG output versions from 2000–2018. The same version keeps unknown DXF entities and objects on save. Choose the output version required by the recipient, then inspect the saved drawing.

Older DWG guidance warns that unmodelled entities can be lost. Keep the original DWG and check the drawing in the receiving application before replacing it. Use CADCraft’s guide for the file and plotting choices.
